That’s the question Rutgers University sophomore, Dan Munoz, asked when he began leaving sticky notes with inspiring messages around campus months ago. Appearing on classroom doors, computers, bus windows and library shelves all around the New Brunswick and Piscataway campuses, the notes included sayings like “Be as happy as a bird with a French fry” along with a website address.
Munoz, who for two semesters, went by RU Post-it Anonymous, only revealed himself in the last few weeks as the brain behind the campaign, which began as part of an acting class assignment he received during his freshman year. Seeing people react to the Post-its, he ultimately created an RU Post-it Anonymous website (rutgers-post-it.tumblr.com) and Twitter account (@RuPostIt) to track his quotes and interact with followers.
“The Post-it notes were just a simple and fun way of putting forth this reminder and an easy way to spread a simple message: Each person is beautiful and each person is loved,” said Laura Appert, a sophomore who worked with Munoz on the project.
Munoz, who hopes his idea spreads to other colleges, has already received messages from students at Rutgers-Newark asking how to start posting notes on their campus. You may just find one!
